Dining for 2 October 2026: dates, booking and current restaurants

American Express lists the third 2026 Dining for 2 edition from 1 to 31 October. Platinum cardmembers may make one reservation per card account in each of the three annual editions. Booking is through the Amex Experiences App; drinks and extras are not included.

If you are searching for the current Dining for 2 restaurants, use the live list in the app rather than an old saved list. Participating restaurants and available dates can change between editions.

Is Dining for 2 the same as an Amex Platinum restaurant credit?

No. Dining for 2 is a two-course menu for two at participating restaurants during a limited edition, booked through the Amex Experiences App. It is not a freely spendable cash credit for any restaurant. Check the app for current availability and the official conditions before booking.

Drinks, additional dishes and other extras are charged separately. In our Villa la Ruche visit, those extras came to €57. That actual cost is more useful for deciding whether the benefit fits you than treating an advertised maximum value as money saved.

Our Dining for 2 experience at Villa la Ruche in Voorburg

We booked Villa la Ruche near Voorburg station for dinner together. It is also easy to reach from The Hague. We arrived for our 18:00 reservation, were shown to a good table by the window and watched the room fill mostly with couples.

After trying three different Dining for 2 restaurants, this was the one we wanted to revisit. The restaurant-discovery value mattered more to us than treating an issuer headline value as cash saved.

How to reserve through the Amex Experiences App

We followed the link in the Amex Experiences App, selected the restaurant and time, and received a confirmation email. The reservation link allowed changes when needed.

At the restaurant, bring the phone used for the booking. The official instructions require the Dining for 2 voucher to be activated in the app by scanning the restaurant's QR code—not with the normal phone camera.

What was included—and why we still paid €57

The Platinum Dining for 2 menu covered a two-course meal for two. We added water, extra bread, an oyster platter, one glass of wine, coffee and dessert. Those choices produced an additional bill of €57.

That is the difference between an included menu and a free evening. Personal value should be based on the meal you would genuinely have bought, not the highest possible promotional value.

The Valentine's Day reservation that did not work

On an earlier attempt, the online system accepted a Valentine's Day reservation, but the restaurant later called to explain that Dining for 2 did not apply on that date. We changed the date and time before the visit.

An available slot is not always final proof that a special date qualifies. For anniversaries, holidays and other popular dates, check the confirmation and respond promptly if the restaurant contacts you.

Who gets the most value from Dining for 2?

The benefit fits couples, friends or two people who want a more special dinner during a limited edition period. A curated list can reduce the risk of choosing an unfamiliar restaurant.

The fit is weaker for a larger family: the included menu is for two and meals for children or extra guests are not covered. Dining for 2 can increase the value of Platinum, but it does not by itself answer whether Amex Platinum is worth it. Compare it with the card costs, lounge access, Privium and the other benefits you would genuinely use.
